Better Transform – Size, Notes, Global-Local Workspace & Child Parent Transform v2.11.0 (June 16, 2025)
Better Transform is a no-setup custom editor asset designed to enhance the development experience by providing greater control over object transforms. It offers a more intuitive and user-friendly transform inspector that closely resembles how the inspector should have been by default.
Key features include:
✅ Real-World Size
By default, Unity’s scale system requires developers to estimate object sizes, often resulting in disproportional visuals. With Better Transform, users can view and modify the actual size of an object directly in the inspector—either for the object alone or for the combined size of all its children. Size can be displayed in any unit, with the ability to easily add or remove units. A customizable gizmo in the Scene View shows the size, allowing for visual feedback during editing.
✅ Notes
Quick notes can be added directly to any object without requiring additional components or cluttering the inspector. Notes come in three distinct styles and are not shared across different objects, enabling tailored visual styles—for example, a large, colorful note for a game manager script and a simple note for other objects.
✅ Global & Local Space
Switch seamlessly between global and local transform views with a single click, matching the behavior of the Scene View for consistent workflow.
✅ Quick Actions
Built-in quick action buttons allow for fast copying, pasting, and resetting of transform fields, improving productivity during development.
✅ Parent & Child Transform
The inspector enables users to view and edit the transforms of parent and child objects at a glance, simplifying hierarchical manipulation.
✅ Prefab Notes
Quick notes can be added to prefabs for short reminders. These appear when hovering over the notes text in the inspector, without interfering with normal workflow.
✅ Built with UI Toolkit
The asset leverages Unity’s UI Toolkit for a responsive, smooth, and modern user interface.
✅ Adaptive and Modern Inspector
The inspector is adaptive, adjusting its layout based on available width for optimal usability. Users can hide sections that are not needed and customize the inspector’s color for personal preference.
