Enviro 3 – Sky and Weather v3.3.1 (16 Nov 2025) introduces a next-generation sky, cloud, and weather system for Unity, designed for performance, flexibility, and ease of use.
Supports Unity 2020.3.36 or higher and works seamlessly with all render pipelines, including Built-in, Universal Render Pipeline (URP), and High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP).
The system features a modular design, allowing users to add or remove specific components directly from the Enviro inspector—such as volumetric clouds—without affecting other systems.
Dynamic skies enable the creation of realistic, visually rich skies using color gradients instead of manual number adjustments.
Realistic lighting is controlled through Enviro, managing directional, ambient lighting, and reflection probes, especially optimized for dynamic time of day.
A dual-layer volumetric clouds system delivers stunning visuals with high performance, featuring temporal reprojection, LOD, depth blending, and screen-space cloud shadows.
The fog system uses exponential height-based fog with dual layers, supporting volumetric lighting from the sun or moon, and point/spot lights. Fog removal zones can be set to eliminate fog, rain, or snow in specific areas.
An optional weather system includes biome-based presets and allows smooth transitions between weather states with a single line of code.
A customizable aurora borealis effect is rendered directly in the sky shader, ideal for cold night scenes.
Enviro 3 supports VR with single-pass instanced rendering in Built-in and URP pipelines (tested on Rift HMD); HDRP VR support is planned for a future update.
Additional features under development include dynamic time of day with calendar integration, realistic sun and moon positioning (latitude/longitude), 2D clouds, seasonal changes, temperature simulation, wetness and snow effects, particle effects management, audio management, procedural lightning storms, and an event system for game logic.
This is just the beginning of Enviro 3’s evolution, with continuous feature enhancements planned.
