 Crest Water 5 (Oceans, Rivers, Lakes) v5.6.2 is a class-leading water system developed by professional game developers, trusted by numerous studios for its quality and performance. It has been implemented in multiple successful games and simulators and has been featured in SIGGRAPH talks. Nominated for Best Artistic Tool at the 16th Unity Awards.

Key highlights of Crest 5 include support for all render pipelines within a single package, a re-architected design for improved performance scalability, and numerous new features and improvements. Some older features have been deprecated or moved to separate packages—please refer to the Release Notes for details. The Shallow Water package is not required for shallow water simulation, as it is integrated into the system as a next-generation feature. Crest 5 maintains full compatibility with shallow water using the same functionality as Crest 4.

The workflow is streamlined: water can be added in minutes using just two components—water surface and waves—with sane, balanced defaults. The system includes helpful tooltips for material properties, detailed help boxes that display validation errors directly in the inspector with fix buttons, and both online and offline documentation. A fully documented scripting API is provided, with support for all three render pipelines in one asset. The package imports into the Packages directory as an editable UPM package, and no removal of the existing Crest system is required when updating.
