Asset Inventory 3 v3.3.2 (10 Sep 2025) introduces a lightning-fast search capability that allows developers to find assets across all purchased content without importing them. With a single click, users can bring in individual files directly into their project. The tool eliminates the time-consuming process of locating specific assets—such as sound files, textures, or models—hidden within various Asset Store purchases.
It supports Unity versions from 2019.4 and up, with testing across all minor versions up to 6.2, and is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. Some features require newer Unity versions and may not be available in older ones. A full feature matrix is available in the documentation under the Unity compatibility section.
Key features include:
– Powerful search with filters by asset type, tags, image dimensions, audio length, color, and more. Users can exclude unwanted items and save or recall searches.
– Easy setup with out-of-the-box functionality, optional views, and hassle-free indexing. Indexing and search operations are fast and can be started, stopped, or resumed at any time.
– Intelligent import and export: import only necessary assets, automatically resolve dependencies for complex prefabs and materials, and bulk-import multiple packages. Imported assets are stored in designated subfolders to keep the project root clean. Export assets for reuse, with support for SRP Support Packages and automatic conversion of materials to URP.
– Support for multiple sources: automatically indexes Asset Store purchases, triggers downloads of missing assets, handles packages from registries and Unity Asset Manager, and supports custom folders containing downloaded packages or ZIP archives with media files like 3D models, audio, and textures. Automatic previews are generated.
– Organizational tools: automatically pulls labels from the Asset Store, allows custom tagging at the package or file level, supports color coding and grouping by tags, bulk operations, and automatic backup of packages to ensure version safety.
– Reverse lookup functionality to quickly identify which assets and packages are already used in the current project.
Asset Inventory 3 is designed to streamline and enhance the asset workflow, reducing dependency on the traditional Package Manager and offering a more efficient, organized, and accessible way to manage all purchased assets.
