Riverology v2.3.0 (5.5–5.6) introduces a next-generation river simulation system designed for real-time open-world environments. Based on advanced mathematical wave modeling, Riverology delivers highly realistic river dynamics with fluid, physics-driven behavior that adapts seamlessly to large-scale, open-world scenarios. The system supports dynamic interaction with objects and characters, enabling real-time environmental responsiveness, including terrain deformation and natural river flow adjustments.
Key features include flow-based physics, optimized spline-based river path generation, realistic buoyancy simulation, and immersive underwater effects with volumetric lighting and smooth transitions. The simulation supports shallow water dynamics, dynamic foam and ripple effects driven by current and obstacles, and day/night adaptation for enhanced visual realism. A spline-based sound system integrates environmental audio along the river path, improving immersion.
Riverology features an intuitive configuration interface and is fully optimized for high performance, achieving up to 120 FPS on systems with a GTX 1080 Ti. It is compatible with Unreal Engine 5 and leverages its advanced rendering and simulation capabilities. The resource pack supports real-time river interaction, environmental adaptation, and dynamic generation of river features such as waterfalls, with the waterfall generator available from version 2.2.0 onward.
