Shift+S: Blender-style Modeling UX 5.7 brings Blender-inspired efficiency to the Unreal Engine Level Editor. Designed for Level Designers and Environment Artists, it eliminates the need to navigate menus, switch modes, or hunt through context menus by consolidating core layout operations into a fast, gesture-based Pie Menu.
Key features include:
- **Scroll-Scope (Tactile Selection)**: Hold Alt+S, hover left, and scroll the mouse wheel to expand a real-time purple sphere. Objects sharing the same material or mesh highlight green as the sphere touches them, allowing precise selection without typing numbers.
- **X-Ray Vertex Snapping**: Select "Cursor Snap" to enter Picker Mode. As you hover over meshes, a cyan dot snaps to vertices in real-time (tracking complex collision). Click to instantly align the actor's pivot to that vertex.
- **Smart Pivot Management**: Quickly fix pivot points without altering asset placement. Options include snapping to the geometric center of visible geometry or aligning to the bottom-center for flush floor placement. The system uses PivotOffset for static meshes and physically adjusts Blueprint actors while preserving visual alignment.
Built natively in C++ using the Slate UI framework, Shift+S delivers zero UMG overhead and no Blueprint tick lag. It features a custom Viewport Overlay system to prevent accidental clicks, supports high-DPI and 4K displays, and is editor-only—adding no size to the final packaged game.
Default input is Alt + S (due to Unreal Engine 5 reserving Shift for camera controls), though users can rebind it in Editor Preferences. Installation is simple: enable the plugin, select an actor in the viewport, press Alt + S, and gesture to access the menu.
