 MCS Caves & Overhangs v1.31 is a performance-optimized extension designed to enhance the creation of caves and overhangs in Unity. This resource pack requires Mesh Combine Studio 2 and supports Unity 2017.x to 2021.x, across all platforms including PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, WebGL, and VR. It is compatible with Standard Rendering, URP, and HDRP, and supports all standard Unity mesh formats such as .fbx, .obj, .dae, 3ds, and .skp. The extension improves performance by eliminating invisible rock geometry through cell-based mesh combining, reducing draw calls and overdraw. It removes approximately 60–80% of unused triangles, resulting in up to 3x faster rendering, 3x less GPU overdraw, 3x reduced lightmap texture space, and 3x lower memory usage compared to static batching or classic combining. It also delivers 3x cheaper shadows and simpler physics colliders. MCS Caves & Overhangs is compatible with any rock asset pack and works seamlessly with Unity Terrain, voxel terrains, and any terrain mesh solution. It supports lightmapping and LODs, making it ideal for high-fidelity terrain environments. Note that this is an optimization tool, not a standalone art asset—only one example rock model is included, and users must provide closed mesh rock models for use.
