The Procedural Foliage Placement Tool 5.5+ enables rapid scene population with foliage through extensive configuration options, including slope and height constraints, obstacle avoidance, and eight distinct spawning methods. It supports spawning three types of entities: meshes, instanced static meshes, and blueprint actor classes (any).
Spawning Methods include:
- Random Location – spawns foliage at random locations within the volume
- Organic Clusters – spawns clusters where each entity appears near the previous one with a random offset
- Clusters around actor – spawns foliage around specified actors
- Along spline actors – spawns foliage along an actor's spline component
- Random patches – spawns foliage in a uniform patch pattern inside the volume
- Grid Distribution – spawns foliage in a strict grid pattern within the volume
- Spawn on Spawn Zones – spawns foliage only within designated Spawn Zones (volumes assigned by the developer)
- Hierarchical Clusters – spawns foliage in a hierarchical structure for more logical distribution
All methods support slope and height restrictions and include obstacle avoidance.
Bonus Features:
- Advanced Landscape Auto Material – automatically blends material layers based on height and slope, and spawns foliage across all layers
- River Tool – a spline-based river placement tool
