Full Sail v1.26 is a shader-based system that enables the creation of fully animating cloth effects for ship sails, castle banners, and other cloth-like objects. The animation and deformation are handled entirely within the shader, ensuring high performance across projects and allowing for hundreds of animated sails to be used in a scene. The system offers extensive control over sail appearance, including tapering, shearing, arching, and wind-dependent arching. Sail attachment and movement behavior, ripple intensity, and ripple type can all be customized through shader parameters. Advanced features include the ability to have sails furl using simple texture controls. Emblems can be applied to sails, with options to place them on the front or back, adjust their color, and add emissive glow for a glowing effect. Damage effects are also supported, allowing individual sails to have unique damage settings, resulting in holes or shredded appearances. The shader supports bump mapping and translucency (excluding URP), enabling realistic interactions with sunlight. Full Sail includes pre-made sail meshes, sail textures, damaged textures, and control textures for sail attachment and furling. Tools are provided to generate the necessary control textures for sail movement and furling effects. The resource pack supports the Built-in, HDRP, and URP rendering pipelines, with shader graphs available for HDRP and URP. All source code and helper scripts are included to assist with integration and control within game projects. Note that URP does not currently support the translucent aspect of the shader. Experimental impact support for HDRP and URP has been added, though it is still under development and may require reporting of issues. In the demo, all sails on a ship use the same mesh and material, with variations in shape, color, and effects achieved through shader overrides and material property blocks. The Built-in Pipeline shaders support impact effects that can create holes and ripples, but this feature is currently unavailable in URP and HDRP due to Unity’s limitations in ShaderGraph (Vector4 arrays). Support for impacts in URP and HDRP is expected once Unity introduces the required functionality. Full Sail does not support general collision detection on sails.
