Full Rig v1.07 is a shader-based rope system that enables developers to easily add, connect, and build complex scenes of animated ropes, chains, and similar objects. Built entirely within the shader, the system delivers high-performance results with minimal CPU usage, allowing hundreds to thousands of ropes to be rendered in real time without impacting frame rate. The system uses catenary curves to simulate natural sag and deformation, with all mathematical calculations handled in the vertex shader, ensuring efficient performance across all Unity pipelines—including Built-in, HDRP, and URP.
Full Rig supports a variety of rope types, including single rope, cable, small and large chains, rusty chains, and multi-rope configurations for pulley systems. It also includes a hammock example to demonstrate its versatility beyond traditional ropes. The asset comes with a range of end objects such as knots, loops, pulleys, and deadeyes, allowing users to customize how ropes connect to game objects or other ropes. Ropes can apply forces to connected rigidbodies, enabling dynamic interactions like pulling, lifting, or bending.
The toolset includes intuitive custom inspectors and gizmos for snapping rope ends to objects or other ropes, making scene construction fast and precise. Users can also position objects along ropes, apply hotkeys for quick editing, and benefit from detailed tooltips and comprehensive documentation. Full Rig is compatible with Unity 6 and includes full source code. It is designed to work seamlessly with the Full Sail asset for complete ship rigging solutions and can be used to create power lines, telegraph lines, or animated ship rigging systems.
Note: Full Rig ropes do not use physics simulation and cannot be collided with.
