Fluid Flux v3.0.8 (5.6-5.7) is a powerful 2D shallow-water simulation system designed for real-time fluid dynamics. It provides a comprehensive and efficient water solution with support for real-time shallow water simulation, including fluid data modifiers, wave generation, and an extendable interface. The system features advanced surface rendering with caustics, wetness, underwater effects, waterlines, advected foam and waves, blending with ocean environments, and dynamic audio detection based on fluid movement. Fluid interaction is optimized with a simple and cost-effective ripple solver that moves with characters. Ocean wave blending supports seamless rendering of tilable ocean heightmap textures in a single pass. The system integrates with Niagara for high-quality environmental effects, including bouncy plants, character swimming, and boat interactions. Built with GPU efficiency and the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle in mind, Fluid Flux offers a small, compact footprint with low memory usage. It includes a tool for generating ultra-fast static meshes with flow maps baked into vertex color and advanced fluid state management. A Niagara-based async readback system enables height and flow sampling in Blueprints. The system supports four example maps: beach, island, river, and baked static river. It uses velocity-based fluid flow advection for foam, caustics, and waves, features water cross-section rendering, and supports large-scale non-simulated coastlines (up to 10x10 km) with wave break animations based on predefined profiles. Infinite mesh grid rendering is enabled via Niagara. Watercolor includes advanced scattering settings and a brush painter. Underwater rendering is based on SLW material mode with time-of-day adjustments and features a unique volumetric glass system. Limitations include: open-world support is not available, multiplayer is only partially supported (detailed in documentation), simulation is based on a 2D grid projected onto the heightfield, wave breaks are not simulated (using predefined animations), mobile platform support is absent, forward rendering (VR) has limited functionality, and there is no integration with the Water Pluginy.
