Highlight Plus 2D v3.5.2 adds outline, glow, see-through, overlay, shadow, and zoom effects to any sprite in 2D or 3D scenes. Designed with platform compatibility and performance in mind, it supports Mac, Windows, Android, iOS, and WebGL. It is compatible with Built-in, URP (Forward and 2D Renderer), and HDRP pipelines, as well as VR (Multi and Single Pass), and delivers fast performance on mobile devices.
Visual features include customizable glow color, width, alpha, animation speed, dithering, and multi-colored options; outline color, alpha, and width; overlay color, alpha, and animation speed; see-through effect intensity, tint color, and alpha; hit/flash effects with custom color, intensity, and fade-out duration; hover zoom; and 2D and 3D shadows.
Additional features support individual and atlas-based sprites with SpriteRenderer, quads with textures, Spine-based animated mesh renderers, animations (SpriteSkin), transforms, and custom pivot. The editor provides real-time preview of effects without entering play mode. Users can highlight individual sprites or groups as a single object, affect selective objects, or run in automatic mode with layer options. An event system allows fine control over automatic mode. The plugin is safe—does not modify existing sprite shaders or materials—and is performant, as it is not a full-screen image effect. The demo includes 225 free sprites.
Limitations include lack of UI element support, effects being rendered in Sorting Layer 0 (sprites in higher sorting layers must be adjusted), and compatibility limited to sprites, quad-based sprites, and Spine renderers.
