 The Visual Engine | Terrain Shaders Module v21.6.0 (22 Apr 2026) is an advanced terrain shader solution that supports up to 16 layers with height-based blending and per-layer planar, triplanar, and stochastic mapping. It integrates with the Vegetation Engine for global seasons, overlay, wetness, emissive effects, and height offset for snow accumulation or tracks. The module offers two texture packing modes to reduce texture usage and optimize rendering. Users can override layer textures and parameters per terrain, or use custom render textures with animated effects such as molten lava or wind-blown sand, which are not available by default in the terrain system. Seamless object-to-terrain blending is supported when used with the Terrain Blanket module shaders. The Terrain Shaders Module is compatible with the Standard, Universal, and HD Render Pipelines, including versions 2021.3+, 2022.3+, and 6000.0+.
